The Metro Toronto Fitness Club (MTFC) is a running and walking club for adults of all ages and abilities. Within a supportive and friendly environment we encourage our members to:
In addition to weekly social runs and walks, each year we hold four races for our members, a summer picnic and an egg nog party before Christmas. At our annual general meeting we award prizes and trophies in recognition of members' accomplishments in physical fitness. These are presented for winning club races, for run and walk participation and for achieving club standards which are derived from world records by age.
We depend on our volunteers to marshall for races, prepare and clean up after refreshments, serve on the executive, e-mail Sunday routes, and coach racewalking. By partcipating in these duties, volunteers sustain the Club and foster a co-operative and welcoming atmosphere to which every member can contribute. We meet every Sunday from 8:30 a.m. at the Pavilion in Sunnybrook Park regardless of weather or holiday. Each Sunday outing starts off with announcements in the parking lot followed by the “Social Mile", which involves the entire group walking at a slow pace in order to allow time to warm up and chat. Members then break off into groups to run or walk on various routes ranging from a few kilometres to over 20 depending on individual needs and goals. Afterwards we all return to the Pavilion for social gathering and refreshments.
The Club has always offered its members a continuous opportunity to learn and grow. This along with the social aspects—laughing, crying, sharing—keeps our members coming back.
The Club always welcomes new members. Contact Us for membership information.
